A court in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, has convicted actor Salman Khan in the blackbuck poaching case.
All other accused including Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu have been acquitted in the case.
The five actors along with two others — Dushyant Singh (a local travel agent) and Dinesh Gawre (said to be Salman’s assistant at that time) — are accused of poaching the endangered animals at Johdpur’s Kankani village on the night of October 1-2, 1998.
The case dates back to 1998, during the shooting of ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. The actors were accused of shooting dead an endangered black buck during a hunting safari.
Following protests by the local Bishnoi community, a case was filed against Salman and the other actors
This is the third and final poaching case Salman has been facing. In the two previous cases, he was convicted by the trial court, only to be acquitted by the Rajasthan high court later.
In January 2017, Salman has claimed that the blackbuck died of “natural causes” and claimed that he was being “framed” by forest department officials.
